Once again the county commission raises the dead issue of a WHEEL TAX. This tax has come up several times in the past twenty years and has been met with a resounding No each time. Now we face a REAL MENACE in that some of our commissioners are planning an end run around the will of the people. Commissioner Steinbuck supports this move and said as much at last night's county commission meeting. The Commission will meet December 8 & 15th 2008 at 6pm to take two votes so they can push it through Nashville this session. Click here to read more. Miss Camden Lion 2008

The Thursday night date was agreed upon by both coaches in order to accommodate the referee crews that were stretched thin in this area covering Friday night games. The Camden High School schedule was also out of the norm with a Thursday & Friday off for fall break, plus it was Homecoming Week, so we needed one thing to remain constant: Camden defeating Houston County! State, Nation & World Benton County Wheel Tax As a resident of Benton County, are you in favor of a wheel tax which is up for the commissioners to vote for in December? Lions win season home opener 35-7 The Camden Lions defeated the Trenton Peabody Golden Tide 35-7 after a tough week of events in Trenton. A Trenton player, Matt Morris, was tragically killed in an auto accident last weekend. Matt was a spirited leader of the team & had performed at a high level in the Week zero game. Less than 12-hours later, Bill Haney also passed. Bill's son, Tim Haney, is the principal at Trenton. Bill was a long-time high school sports supporter & radio announcer that loved high school football. After canceling the CJH-Trenton game on Thursday due to memorial services, it was truly a testament to the coaches & players that the team was in Camden for the game Friday night. Both teams & fans remembered these two important members of the Trenton athletic community with a moment of silence before the game.
