Cathy Simmons
(August 25, 1951 - October 29, 2007)
Cathy Carlyle (Mitchell) Simmons, 56, of Union City died at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. Oct. 29, 2007.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Revs. James Kinsey and Andy Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in Sanders' Chapel Cemetery near Union City. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-9 this evening. Pallbearers will be members of the Union City Police Department afternoon shift. Honorary pallbearers will be other members of the Union City Police Department. The family requests that memorials be made to the Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
Mrs. Simmons was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Logan's Port, Ind., daughter of the late Hershel Thelford and Mava Nell (Durdin) Mitchell. She was married to Talmadge E. "Tack" Simmons Jr. Sept. 16, 1995. He survives. She was a clerk at the Union City Municipal Building and had also been a school crossing guard and a dispatcher for the police department. She was a member of Crosswinds Church in Union City and was a participant in the Hometown Walk of Hope fundraisers for the Obion County Cancer Agency.
Survivors also include her son, Christopher Donald Mitchell of Nashville; two stepsons, Talmadge Edison "Tra" Simmons III and William Thomas "Will" Simmons, both of Union City; three sisters, Shirley Davis and Vicki Wilson, both of Nashville, and Michelle Mitchell of Dresden; four brothers, Richard Mitchell of Washington, D.C., and Thelford (Pam)Mitchell, Stanley (Rhonda) Mitchell and Anthony (Tina) Mitchell, all of Camden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn Mitchell and Charles Mitchell.
